The famous German amphibious vehicle – Schwimmwagen (literally: swimming car) – in the service of the 13th SS Mountain Division. Standing in the car is the division commander, SS-Brigadeführer Karl-Gustav Sauberzweig, and the driver is SS-Unterscharführer Stefan Schaffhauser; on the right, approaching the vehicle is SS-Sturmbannführer Hans Hanke, commander of the II Battalion, 28th Regiment; standing in the background is SS-Sturmbannführer Erich Braun, the division chief of staff (Ia).
