As the Armed Forces High Command announced on 6 June 1944, troops of the Army and Waffen-SS under the command of Colonel General Rendulić in Croatia, supported by strong fighter pilot and ground attack units, raided the centre of Tito's bandit troops and smashed it after days of heavy fighting. The operation began in the dark. After hours of flying, the SS paratroopers' nerves are strained to the utmost, and they prepare themselves mentally for the jump."
