Punitive expedition in Skela. On 14 August 1941, on the Obrenovac–Šabac road, near the village of Skela, members of the Posavina Company, Kosmaj Partisan Detachment, ambushed and destroyed a German police car. Riding in the vehicle was Oberleutnant Otto Ehrmann, commander of the 3rd Company, 64th Reserve Police Battalion (the future I Battalion of the 5th SS Police Regiment), with three Wachtmeister. All four were killed and their bodies were thrown into the Sava river. Shortly afterwards, the burnt car was discovered by a German patrol. The very next day, a company of policemen were sent from Belgrade to Skela (the Partisans had left the village in the meantime); in retaliation for the Partisan attack, 15 suspected villagers were shot on the spot and 50 Communists (hostages from the Banjica camp) were hanged, and the village itself was burnt to the ground. Pictured, members of the 64th Reserve Police Battalion stand triumphantly (and symbolically) between the freshly-killed Serbian villagers and their a-day-earlier-destroyed car.

Kaznena ekspedicija u Skeli.
