0009 | Bio | Viktor Brack

Dr Viktor Brack, assistant to the quartermaster of the 7th SS Mountain Division "Prinz Eugen" and quartermaster of the V SS Mountain Corps. In the Waffen-SS, Brack held the rank of SS-Sturmbannführer and had a background role; in the Allgemeine SS, on the other hand, he held the rank of SS-Oberführer and was the chief of Office II of the Chancellery of the Führer – and this is where his historical significance was much more serious: Dr Brack was organiser of the euthanasia programme in Germany (after the war named "Action T4", after the street in which it was designed), in which over 70000 people were murdered, who, according to German estimation, were "unworthy of life". At the Doctors' Trial in Nuremberg in 1947, Viktor Brack was sentenced to death, and he was executed on 2 June 1948. He served in Yugoslavia from August 1942 to November 1944, at first as assistant to the quartermaster (O2) of the SS Division "Prinz Eugen" and then as quartermaster (Ib) of the V SS Mountain Corps. The enclosed photographs show him as an officer of the "Prinz Eugen" Division (after he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class) – and in prison, a few moments before hanging.

Dr Viktor Brak, pomoćnik načelnika pozadine 7. brdske SS-divizije "Princ Eugen" i načelnik pozadine V brdskog SS-korpusa.
