Husein Đozo – then and after. Đozo was a highly educated Muslim theologian, reformer and activist, who studied at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo and eventually became a professor at the Islamic Theological Faculty in Sarajevo. Today, he is considered one of the most influential Bosnian Muslim thinkers of the past century – but his role during World War II is rarely being mentioned. He was born in Bare near Goražde and he joined the Croatian SS Division (later named "Handschar") in June 1943. He served in the division as an imam of the 2nd Regiment and a deputy chief imam (in the rank of Waffen-Hauptsturmführer). He was also tasked with educating the troops and training the imams. He wrote his articles in a typical Nazi propaganda style, using the usual phrases such as "laying down lives for the great leader Adolf Hitler and the New Europe". He wrote about the SS soldier's mission and the struggle against capitalism, communism and Judaism, all for the so-called New Order. After the war, he spent five years in prison, and later continued his theological work in communist Yugoslavia. He died in Sarajevo, aged 70. In his honour, a couple of years ago, a primary school in Goražde previously called "Nikola Tesla" changed its name to "Husein ef. Đozo".

Husein Đozo – onda i posle. Novog poretka.
